As technology evolves it is getting easier and easier to capture and share video of your favorite fishing, hunting, and outdoor activities. There are many devices nowadays that will capture decent quality video. You have your standard video camera, still camera, and even a lot of cell phones will now take video.
Getting that video to your PC is probably the hardest part of sharing it with the world. There are many software programs, cables, and what not to do that and would be impossible to cover it all, so for now, I’m going to go through how I do it with my still camera. And then describe how to share that video once you have it on your PC.

Of course the most important part is capturing quality video. In order to do that one must also capture the not so quality stuff in the process. I always have my camera ready to flip on in an instant to capture that once in a lifetime fish or that gigantic buck that just appeared out of nowhere. I’m not afraid to keep rolling because I can edit out anything that could be unappealing to the video.

Once the video is captured on the camera, I simply connect it to the PC via a USB cable. The PC recognizes it and downloads to the appropriate folder. After the video is fully transferred, I use Windows Movie Maker to make my edits. WMM is a very basic program that is bundled with most Windows based PC’s. Editing is a whole post in itself so I won’t get into that.
Once the video is edited how I like, I then select the option to publish to my computer….I always select the best quality setting.

Now that the edited video has been published (saved) to the PC, I can now upload to an online server. I am a big fan of YouTube. They really make things easy and provide some nice tools for the beginner as well as the advanced.

You will need to create an account on YouTube which is no different then creating an account anywhere else on the internet. Once you create your account, the fun begins.

In your account homepage you will see a button labeled “Upload”, you will need to click that button:

This will bring you to step 1 of uploading. On this page you will title your video, give it a brief description and tag it with some key words for others to find it. Then you will click “Upload a Video” which will take you to step 2

On step 2 you will point YouTube to the video you want to upload. Click “Browse” to locate the edited video on your PC then click “Upload Video”. The upload process will begin and how long it takes will vary on file size and speed of connection. After the video is uploaded, there is usually a short delay before it goes live:

Are we having fun yet?

Ok your video is live. Congratulations!

Now let’s share that video.

First click the customize link in the "About this video" window and select, "do not include related videos"

You will then want to locate the embed code of your video, then highlight and copy that code:

We’re almost there…..

Now create a new post here, and paste that embed code directly into your post.

The other thing you need to do is select “Use HTML and UBB Code” from the Post Options pull down menu:

That’s it. Your video should now appear as the video does in my next post.

I look forward to seeing some of your videos. Feel free to practice here on this post and ask any questions.

Good Luck!

Nice work Darren. What would we do without computer nerds like you!

J/K. I can't wait to see more videos on here from FM members...I was looking at a few of last year's vids and may get a few up before the end of the week with any luck.
