we had planned to go to lanesboro labor day weekend and ride the root river trail. just wondering how the trail held up with all the rain?? i expect that it took considerale damage. can anybody give us an update????

should we go forward with our plans, or is it time to consider a different location???

The Root River State Trail is closed until further notice according to the DNR website. Lots of trail damage from the flood.

I know its after the fact now but they actually opened it back up not too long after they closed it. The only bad spot is between Lanesboro and Whalan. I can't imagine what it looked like. I was there in early June watching deer come down to the river for a drink and songbirds buzzing all around...To go from that to ripping currents overflow banks and ripping up trails is incredible.

BTW, Fall is one of the best times to ride down there with the colors changing.
