FishingMinnesota Multi-species Fishing Circuit
Rules and League Info

To Register for the tourney circuit, please click here

The purpose of the Circuit is to promote the sport of fishing, make new friends, learn new techniques and presentations and to have fun doing it.

The Circuit will consist of no more than 30 two-person teams per event. First 30 teams to register with payment of fees will be accepted into the event. .

Event fees will be $20 per team with optional big fish pots collected the morning of each event. Fee for the championship will be $40 per team, with the top 30 teams over the course of the season competing.

All money will go towards trophies, fish bags, construction of an official measuring table, and leader board. All remaining cash will be awarded at the end of each event and paid out to the top 3 places or more depending on amount of teams with no more than 8 places paid. Donations of materials and fish bags will be accepted.

The events will be catch-and-release. Fish may be brought in to be measured officially, but may also confirm their catch while on the water with another team. Fish brought in dead will not count for points.

All boats must meet the following criteria-
1) Boats MUST have a livewell or other means of keeping fish alive. Stringers and fish baskets are prohibited.
2) All boats must have some type of communication device- cell phone or marine band radio. This is for weather related communication, emergencies and to locate other boats for on-the-water measurement verification. Frequency of marine band radio transmissions will be announced prior to event and all cell phone numbers must be submitted with league fee payment. We will be distributing these numbers to all league members for communication purposes.
3) All boats must meet USCG and state of Minnesota requirements.

Lakes and dates and times-
June 2- Tetonka/Cannon River Chain 7am-9pm
June 16- Whitefish Chain 7am-9pm
June 30- Cass Lake (open tourney) 7am-9pm
July 14- Horseshoe Chain 7am-9pm
July 28- Ottertail 7am-9pm
Aug 11- Mille Lacs (open tourney) 7am-8:30pm
Aug 25- Minnetonka 7am-8pm
Sept 8- Leech Lake Championship/open tourney 7am-7pm

At each event, members MUST report into the official starting site at NOON to measure fish caught in the morning and for lunch. The lunch break will be from noon to 2pm and the mornings lowest scoring team will be allowed to leave first in 15 second intervals finishing with the top team leaving last. Top team will be the “starter boat”.

Basic rules-
1) All teams must obey 2001 state rules and regulations
2) Good sportsmanship- Teams may not fish closer than 30 yards from another team except while meeting head-on while trolling. Teams must respect non-league boats as well.
3) All misconduct must be brought to the attention of league president and vice president for a ruling. Severe violations will result in loss of nightly points, suspension or removal from league.
4) Wearing of lifejackets while running with big motor is highly recommended.
5) Members may not leave boat except for emergencies or at the official tournament site.
6) All water that is accessible by boat may be fished.
7) League may be cancelled in event of severe weather, but because it will be an all-day event, we will try to get some time in during the course of the day.
8) Scoring rules will be posted in the scoring section of this page.
9) No prefishing of lakes on day of the event.
10) All teams must check in with league president prior to starting the event. If teams arrive late for the event, they must sign in at official tourney site.
11) Rule changes, additions or subtractions will be posted prior to first league event.

Scoring-
1) Fish will be scored on the basis of length, not weight. This is to provide equal scoring between different species.
2) Each team may only score one (1) legal limit of fish per boat- Currently- 6 walleye, 3 pike, 6 bass, 15 crappie and 30 bluegill. Once a fish is measured, that fish will go towards that teams total. Once a limit of any species is scored, no other fish from that species will be recorded. All slot sizes and limits will be observed.
3) Teams may have any fish verified and scored by another team while on the water. A form will be provided which must be signed by both teams and must be submitted to the official scorer by the team that measures the fish, not the team that caught it.
4) “Short fish” will result in losing 1 point from total per short fish. A short fish is defined as any fish that is more than Ό inch shorter than the minimum length for that species.
5) Teams can throw out their worst score in determining top teams for the championship.
6) Scoring system will be as follows-
2 pts will be awarded for showing up to the event.
1 pt will be awarded for the biggest fish to be scored for each species.
1 pt will be awarded for each walleye, pike and bass combination scored with a total of 3 pts available if 3 walleye, 3 pike and 3 bass are brought in by any team.
6) Point totals will be for that event only. points will be awarded for each place- 1st place = 15 pts, 2nd = 14pts and so on. These points will be accumulated throughout the league season, with top 10 teams competing in league championship. League championship will be open to anyone, but the trophies will go to the top 3 teams. Payout for the championship will be available to every team that attends paying down 5 places.
