Orange 1/8 jig with brown fuzz-e-grub or twister tail body was the thing working for me for the few 'eyes that were biting. Lindy rig with fatheads.

Got into a run of smallmouths (while trying to find some 'eyes) on Crescent for an hour or so on a floating lindy rig.
